Situated on the beautiful island of Borneo, Sabah is one of the thirteen states which Malaysia is made of. Sabah is the second largest state in Malaysia and shares the island of Borneo with Sarawak, Brunei, and Indonesian Kalimantan.


Sabah is richly blessed with nature diversity, unique cultures, fun adventure, beautiful beaches, and fantastic cuisines for the adventurous taste buds.


Sabah has it all, from the world’s largest flower - the Rafflesia, one of the highest mountains in South East Asia - Mount Kinabalu, to one of the world’s top dive sites - Sipadan Island.


Sabah is also known for her great natural treasures which include the world-renowned Danum Valley Conservation Area and Tabin which is Sabah’s largest wildlife reserve.



About this holiday


This Borneo journey is a combination of a night on arrival near Kota Kinabalu, several days of wildlife-focused exploration in Borneo, staying in the two best lodges in Borneo, followed by a few days relaxing at the beautiful Gaya Island Resort.


You'll begin with a nights in Kota Kinabalu on arrival.


From Kota Kinabalu you'll fly the short hop up to Sandakan with a visit to the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Sun Bear Sanctuary included.


From here you'll head straight off to the Kinabatangan River for two days of wildlife viewing in this magical part of Borneo. You'll head out in the mornings and evenings by electric boat in seach of wildlife along the riverbanks. You'll be staying at Sukau Rainforest Lodge, which is the best lodge in the Kinabatangan River area.


From Sukau you'll go to the Tabin Wildlife Reserve for 2 nights exploring the mud volcanoes, waterfalls and great bird watching areas.


From Tabin you'll head to the Danum Valley for 2 nights at the award-winning Borneo Rainforest Lodge, the premier wildlife lodge in South East Asia. You have daily experiences included.


The last leg of your Borneo adventure will be in the the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. This sizable Malaysian island has been protected as a reserve since the early 1920's.


Gaya Island Resort is a luxury resort offering some of the best accommodation in Borneo and is the ideal complement to a wildlife tour of Borneo. We have included Full Board at Gaya Island Resort but b&b is an option if you prefer.
