After a traumatic late 20th century period, travel to Cambodia is now very much back on the agenda.

The magnificent temple complex of Angkor of course is the highlight of any tour of Cambodia, but many visitors also fall in love with Phnom Penh with its youthful atmosphere and wide boulevards.

The sleepy coastal stretch from Kampot to Kep and the off-shore islands along the Cambodian Riviera offer peaceful beach escapes, with a handful of new, luxury boutique resorts.

Off-the-beaten track Cambodia offers wildlife, little-explored mountain ranges and unique tribal cultures. With two excellent luxury lodges, Cambodia's Cardamom Mountains are the place to head to nature lovers.

This Cambodia Explorer Holiday will introduce you to the best of Cambodia with 4 nights to see the temples at Angkor, 3 nights in the capital Phnom Penh, 3 nights in the Cardamom Mountains and 4 nights to relax in a Cambodian island resort.

This is a Private Tour which can be tailored to suit your interests, time, hotel & airline choice and to fit your budget.

Days 1-4: Discover Angkor

Begin your trip in Siem Reap in the north of Cambodia, home to the magnificent temples of Angkor.

You'll see the best of the temples of Angkor on a full day private excursion as well as visiting nearby Tonle Sap Lake to get an insight into life in rural Cambodia. Visit a Cambodian village and enjoy an insight into Cambodian cuisine at a restaurant supporting street children.

We've suggested a charming boutique resort in Siem Reap called Maison Polanka which will give you a great experience of staying somewhere special and unique in Siem Reap.

Days 5-7: Explore Phnom Penh

After Siem Reap, enjoy 3 nights in Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital city.

Phnom Penh is well worth a visit as the city has some lively markets, impressive temples and a great little museum which will elucidate much about the magnificent monuments further north.

On a more sobering note, the Killing Fields memorial is a moving testament to more recent events and an important place to visit to really understand modern day Cambodia.

You'll be staying in a luxury hotel by the river called the Bale.

Days 8-10: Discover Wild Cambodia

The Cardamom Mountains cover 20,000 sq. km. of South East Cambodia, including the Koh Kong Conservation corridor.

This is Cambodia’s most scenic and bio-diverse region with large tracts of virgin rainforest and the habitat of several endangered species including Tigers, Malaysian Sun Bears, Clouded Leopards, Asian Elephants and Siamese Crocodiles.

Canvas & Orchids is a unique luxury Cambodian eco-lodge and an ideal base from which to experience this region. Kayak through mangrove waterways, visit magnificent waterfalls and trek through jungle pathways.

The collection of floating and on-land tented villas will provide you with a once in a lifetime experience in the beauty and splendour of the Cardamom Rainforest.

Days 11-15: Relax on beautiful Koh Rong

After the wild Cardamom Mountains, transfer down to the coast at Sihanoukville and over to the island of Koh Rong for some time to relax.

You'll be staying in a luxury beachfront resort called Royal Sands which consists of private villas on an idyllic stretch of sand in a beautiful natural setting.

Spanning a private 400 meter beach on the tropical island of Koh Rong, The Royal Sands is a 5-star resort offering an intimate glimpse of island life as it was meant to be
